Pragyan is a co-educational 10+2 school affiliated to the CBSE providing all-round comprehensive quality education aimed at character building and sound development of personality.
To facilitate our students to go in for higher education in international institutions, we have plans to affiliate to the globally preferred and widely accepted International Baccalaureate which is equivalent to 'A' levels of the U.K .
The medium of instruction is English and special emphasis is placed on spoken English, debates, recitation and declamation contests. The availability of various Multi-Media Laboratories helps to accelerate the process of learning and developing the language skills.
The Pre-Primary education assumes great importance because we believe well begun is half done; learning should be relevant; child-centered and should have an innovative approach which helps the child to compete with oneself and realize one’s own optimal individual potential.
Realizing this, Pragyan’s Pre-Primary is thoughtfully visualized with an identity of its own, with special parameters to ensure all round development of young children.
Opportunities are provided to children to develop coordinated skills in a safe and a non-threatening environment. By taking part in the structured play situations, both indoors and outdoors, the children are given a chance to try out new skills as well as practice familiar ones.
The children enjoy learning through play, hands on activities and interaction with others. The teaching of concepts through activities, poems, songs, dance and games and a variety of hands on experiences through which children can explore and learn about the world around them is indeed effective. Art and Craft activities that improve motor skills and coordination like cotton dabbing, sand pasting, crayon crush, tear and paste, thumb painting, spray painting, paper crushing etc are taken up.
The activities are so designed that the motor skills such as balance, hand-eye coordination, rhythm and manual dexterity become stronger, firmer and steadier. As children gain increasing control over their bodies and its movements, they also gain significantly in their self-esteem and confidence.
Outdoors educational trips are arranged once in two months. Places like – Post office, Mother Dairy, places of worship, farm house etc are incorporated in our regular curriculum.
The play-way method of teaching in the Primary classes is followed to make learning a pleasurable pursuit. Emphasis is on learning by doing and project work, thereby encouraging self-learning and independence. For classes XI and XII we have Science (Medical and Engineering), Commerce and Humanities streams.
Competition with one's own self is the objective of these periods. Homework is completed by the students in the school itself upto class V under the supervision of subject teachers. A revision of topics taught is also done through worksheets.
Evaluation of learning and understanding of concepts is undertaken through a well-planned system of continuous assessments instead of periodical dreaded system of examinations upto class V. In the middle and senior schools a formal system of evaluation is introduced to gear the students to face an open examination at class X and class XII levels. There is a regular parent teacher meeting, where parents are apprised of the progress of their wards.
The school has adopted, the Detailed Assessment Programme for classes VII to X in the subjects –English, Maths and Science. Detailed Assessment is the online formative assessment programme, to forecast and support student’s performance in school annual exams, external competitive exams and board exams. Detailed Assessment (DA) is a topic-based testing tool that provides immediate granular and actionable feedback on the learning levels of the students. DA offers assistance to teachers and helps schools measure the effectiveness of teaching. DA helps teachers, school management and parents get a continuous and regular and detailed feedback on the learning levels. It provides clear action items for students, teachers, school management and parents to further strengthen performance. Students are assessed after completion of certain topics, online, in the subjects mentioned, during the session. The reports are automatically generated on the parents’ email id. The programme helps in supporting students with actionable insights to bridge the learning gaps. At the end of the academic year, a student gets an annual report which shows, in a snapshot, how each child has performed over the year.
Career guidance workshops are organised from time to time for students of classes IX to XII so that they are exposed to the latest career options and the path forged to reach them.
Remedial & High achievers' classes
care is taken to ensure that no student lags behind in academics. Restricting the number of students in each class from 25 to maximum 30, provides the school an opportunity to give personalised attention to each student.
Remedial classes are held, within the school hours or on working Saturdays for students who need extra help in clarifying their doubts in various subjects.
Like wise, extra classes, for students who are already doing well, but needs grooming for various competitive external examination and for improving their own score, are arranged in the school under the guidance of our experienced and talented teaching staff.
